  • Five Stormy Petrels Named to SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

    The SAA released their 2017 Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams Friday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The five Stormy Petrels selected join a total of 56 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time and five affiliate members across its seven sponsored fall sports.
  • Bolas, Trice Earn Women's Soccer All-SAA Honorable Mention

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team saw a pair of players earn All-SAA Honorable Mention from the league's coaches on Monday, as freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas and sophomore forward Kayla Trice took home the honor. It marks the first career All-SAA nod for Bolas and the second consecutive for Trice.
  • Women's Soccer Falls to Birmingham-Southern in SAA Quarterfinals to Close Season

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team saw their season come to a close Saturday night in Birmingham, Alabama, as they fell to No. 2 seed Birmingham-Southern 4-1 in the quarterfinal round of the SAA Tournament. The Stormy Petrels end their season at 4-11-1 on the campaign overall.
  • Fall Teams to Compete in SAA Championships Saturday

    The Oglethorpe cross country and soccer teams will be competing in various SAA championship events on Saturday. The men's and women's cross country teams will battle for their respective conference championships, while the men's and women's soccer teams will play in the quarterfinal round of their respective tournaments.
  • Women's Soccer Closes Regular Season with 2-0 Loss at Wesleyan

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team closed out their regular season Tuesday night in Macon, falling to the homestanding Wesleyan Wolves 2-0 to finish the campaign 4-10-1 overall. The Stormy Petrels will now get set for their SAA Tournamenter opener Saturday night against Birmingham-Southern.
  • Women's Soccer Suffers Tough 1-0 Defeat in Hard-Fought Game against Berry on Senior Day
    October 21, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell 1-0 Saturday afternoon to the visiting Berry Vikings on Senior Day. The Stormy Petrels had chances in the contest, but it was Berry who capitalized and scored the game's only goal in the second half. The result dropped the Petrels to 4-9-1 overall and 1-5-1 in SAA play with their conference slate now completed.
  • Lindsey Bolas Earns SAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Accolades

    Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas of the Oglethorpe women's soccer team was named SAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Monday. She earned the award for her efforts in the team's 3-0 win over Millsaps on Friday and their 1-0 defeat to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday. The award marks both the first such honor of Bolas' career and the second time this season that a member of the Stormy Petrels has taken a conference player of the week award, after freshman midfielder Maddie Cornell did so in September.
  • Late Birmingham-Southern Goal Sinks Women's Soccer in Tight 1-0 Contest
    October 15, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team challenged the first-place Birmingham-Southern Panthers on Sunday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, fighting them tooth and nail until the very end, but the visiting Panthers were able to grab the game-winning goal in the final minute, dealing the Stormy Petrels a heartbreaking loss. The game remained tied until the final seconds where the Panthers scored the game-winning goal. The 1-0 victory for the Panthers allowed them to remain undefeated in SAA play, while the Petrels dropped to 1-4-1 in the league and 4-8-1 on the season overall. 
  • Women's Soccer Runs Past Millsaps, 3-0, for First Conference Win of Season
    October 13, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women’s soccer team hosted the Millsaps Majors on Friday night and was able to secure a 3-0 victory, tallying their first SAA win of the season. They scored one goal in the first half, but put the game away with two goals in the second. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 4-7-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the SAA. 
  • Women's Soccer Drops 4-1 Road Contest to Rhodes
    October 08, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team hung tough for much of the contest Sunday afternoon against a very good Rhodes team in Memphis, Tennessee, but the homestanding Lynx pulled away late for a 4-1 victory. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-7-1 on the season overall and 0-3-1 in SAA play.
  • Women's Soccer Earns 0-0 Draw at Hendrix
    October 06, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team played the homestanding Hendrix Warriors to an even 0-0 tie over 110 minutes of action Friday night in Conway, Arkansas. The two teams took turns controlling the run of play, but neither teams was able to find a goal over a total of nine shots on target. The result moved the Stormy Petrels to 3-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in SAA play.
  • Late Goal Allows Sewanee to Nip Women's Soccer, 2-1
    September 30, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team found itself locked in a 1-1 game with the homestanding Sewanee Tigers deep into the second half Saturday afternoon in Sewanee, Tennessee, but a 76th minute goal by the home side proved to be the difference in a 2-1 Sewanee win. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-6 on the season overall and 0-2 in SAA play.
  • Women's Soccer Drops Hard-Fought Battle with Piedmont, 1-0
    September 28, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field to the undefeated Piedmont Lions. The Stormy Petrel defense held together well against the high-powered Piedmont attack, but the Lions were able to get the game-winning goal in the second half, dropping Oglethorpe to 3-5 on the season overall.
  • Women's Soccer Uses Pair of Second-Half Goals to Score 2-1 Comeback Win over Brenau

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell behind early in their non-conference road game against Brenau Tuesday night in Gainesville, but rebounded with a pair of goals in the second half to turn the tables on the homestanding Golden Tigers for a 2-1 victory. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 3-4 on the season as they get ready to head back into SAA play over the weekend.

    Sunday's women's soccer game against non-conference opponent Oakwood has been canceled and will not be made up.
  • Women's Soccer Falls 4-0 to National Power Centre in SAA Opener

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team had a tough afternoon Saturday, as they took on defending SAA champion Centre in the conference opener for both teams. The Stormy Petrels hung tough for long stretches of the game, including most of the first half, but the visiting Colonels pulled away in the end for a 4-0 victory. The loss dropped the Petrels to 2-4 on the season overall and 0-1 in SAA play.
  • Women's Soccer Blanked on Road at Covenant
    September 16, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team had a tough game on the road Saturday evening on Lookout Mountain, as they fell to in-state opponent Covenant 4-0. The homestanding Scots took a 2-0 lead at halftime, then went on to double their advantage in the second half to cruise to a 4-0 win. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 2-3 on the season.
  • Women's Soccer Drops Tough 1-0 Decision to Huntingdon
    September 13, 2017
    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team played a largely even matchup with the visiting Huntingdon Hawks Wednesday night at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but a second-half goal from Huntingdon sunk the Stormy Petrels in a 1-0 defeat. The loss dropped the Petrels to 2-2 on the young season.
  • Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to Bryan in First Road Game of Season

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team embarked on their first road trip of the season Friday evening and found a tough opponent in the Bryan Lions. The home team scored a pair of goals in the first half and the Stormy Petrels were unable to answer in a 2-0 defeat in Dayton, Tennessee. The result dropped the visitors to 2-1 on the season.
  • Women's Soccer Defeats Wesleyan 3-1, Starts Season 2-0

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team doubled up on their excellent start to the season Wednesday night, improving to 2-0 with a 3-1 victory over Wesleyan at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. The Stormy Petrels controlled the game throughout, spending an outsize portion of it in their attacking third. They built a 2-0 lead early in the second half and, though the visiting Wolves got a goal back, were able to put it away late.
  • Maddie Cornell Takes SAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honors

    The SAA named Oglethorpe freshman midfielder Maddie Cornell as the SAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for her efforts in a 2-1 season-opening victory over Agnes Scott on Friday. Cornell proved a key factor in the Stormy Petrels winning their season opener, as she both scored and tallied an assist in the contest, which was her first collegiate game.

    The Oglethorpe women's soccer team got exactly the start they wanted to the 2017 season Friday night, as they bounced back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Agnes Scott, 2-1, on a breezy night at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. Freshman midfielder Maddie Cornell led the way for Oglethorpe, as she had a hand in both Oglethorpe goals. She scored one and assisted on the other.
