Lady Netters Drop Final Spring Break Match

The Oglethorpe University women's tennis team lost to Grinell on Friday afternoon in Orlando, Florida, 7-2. The loss concludes a difficult four matches in four days stretch for the Lady Netters.

Grinell swept the doubles competition to put Oglethorpe in a hole from which they could not recover. The No. 1 combo of Sarah Beth Britt and Alison Burt (8-6) put up a great fight before narrowly following. Molly Colvard and Jayme Danielson (8-2) fell at No. 2 while Kayla Atkins and LaDonna Barnes (8-0) went down at No. 3.

The Petrels recorded points in the singles matches with gutty performances from No 1 Danielson (7-5, 6-0) and No. 5 Kimberly O'Dell (7-5, 3-6, 10-4). Suffering singles losses in heartbreaking fashion were Britt (1-6, 6-4, 10-6) and Burt (4-6, 6-3, 11-9) while Sarah Duff (6-2, 6-3) and Barnes (6-1, 6-3) went down in straight sets.

The Lady Netters are now 4-8 on the season and will come home to face Southeastern on Downing Howell Courts this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
