Lady Netters Sweep Wesleyan for 1st Win of Season

The women's tennis team dominated Wesleyan College on Downing Howell Courts on Wednesday afternoon 9-0 on their way to posting their first victory of the spring season.

The Petrels easily dispatched Wesleyan with the sweep of all nine points available, and only allowed their opponents to win 8 of the 94 games played in doubles and singles competition.

Oglethorpe got 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0 victories from the No.'s 1, 2 and 3 doubles positions respectively to begin their domination on the afternoon. The doubles sweep included the freshmen duo of Lauren Martin and Tricia Groover picking up their first collegiate wins.

In singles play, Oglethorpe cruised through Wesleyan as well. Sarah Duff played from the No. 1 slot and won love-love while Kate Siess, playing at No. 2, won 6-0, 6-1. K.C. Te won by the identical score as Siess at No. 3 and Clara Reinheimer posted another love-love victory at No. 4. Groover and Martin closed out the victory at No. 5 and No. 6 with Groover winning 6-0, 6-2 and Martin posting a 6-2, 6-1 win.

The Lady Netters are now 1-1 on the season and will travel to Montgomery to face Huntingdon on Saturday morning.
