Women's Tennis Drops Dual Match to Mississippi College, 8-1

The Oglethorpe women's tennis team fell to Mississippi College at the Downing Howell Courts Saturday morning, losing 8-1.

The Lady Petrels were swept in all three doubles matches by the Lady Choctaws, though two were close. Katherine Walker and Marcail McGranahan took their opponent to a tiebreak in the No. 1 doubles match, but fell in the end, 9-8(3). In the No. 2 doubles match, Kate Siess and Mary Anne Hafen fell to their opponent, 8-6.

Mississippi College quickly won the first two singles matches to clinch overall victory, 5-0. The Lady Petrels won the No. 4 singles match, with Siess blowing away her opponent in straight set 6-2, 6-0.

However, the Lady Choctaws took the rest of the singles matches, leading to their 8-1 victory.

The 1-3 Lady Petrels are next in action on Thursday, when they travel to Rome, Ga., to take on Berry at 3 p.m. in their first SAA dual match of the season.
