  • Five Stormy Petrels Named to SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

    The SAA released their 2017 Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams Friday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The five Stormy Petrels selected join a total of 56 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time and five affiliate members across its seven sponsored fall sports.
  • Sims, North Earn All-SAA Volleyball Honors

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team saw two members earn All-SAA honors at the awards banquet prior to the SAA Volleyball Tournament Friday morning in Mount Berry, Georgia. Freshman outside hitter Jacoby Sims took All-SAA Second Team honors in her first season as a Stormy Petrel, while sophomore libero Taryn North earned All-SAA Honorable Mention. It marked the first career all-conference honors for both Sims and North.
  • Volleyball Season Comes to Close with 3-0 SAA Quarterfinal Loss to Berry

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team, seeded eighth in the SAA Volleyball Tournament this weekend, fell 3-0 in their quarterfinal matchup to top-seeded Berry Friday afternoon at the Cage Center in Mount Berry, Georgia. The dropped the Stormy Petrels out of the tournament and saw their campaign come to a close with a 4-21 overall record.
  • Men's Soccer, Volleyball in SAA Tournament Action This Weekend

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer and volleyball teams will compete in their respective SAA tournaments this weekend, both of them starting play on Friday. The Stormy Petrels will host the men's soccer tournament at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, while the volleyball tournament is set to take place in Mount Berry, Georgia, at Berry's Cage Center. SAA champions will be crowned at both venues by Sunday evening.
  • Volleyball Falls on Road to Maryville in Final Regular Season Match
    October 25, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team brought their regular season to a close Wednesday evening with a 3-0 defeat in Maryville, Tennessee, against the Maryville Scots. The result meant that the Stormy Petrels finished the regular season with a 4-19 overall record.
  • Volleyball Falls to Huntingdon 3-0 in Non-Conference Contest
    October 23, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team dropped a non-conference road match to the homestanding Huntingdon Hawks Monday evening in Montgomery, Alabama, 3-0, dropping themselves to 4-19 on the season overall. The Stormy Petrels did not have their full compliment of players for the match, as they split up the squad for the final two matches of the regular season this week against Huntingdon on Monday and Maryville (Tennessee) on Wednesday, and they struggled against the homestanding Hawks.
  • Volleyball Knocks off Centre 3-1 on Senior Day
    October 22, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team celebrated Senior Day in style Sunday afternoon in Dorough Field House, taking the opening set and the final two for a 3-1 victory over the visiting Centre Colonels. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 4-18 on the season overall and 2-12 in SAA play, and ensured that setter Jordan Jones and middle hitter Kaitlyn Woodruff got a victory on their Senior Day.
  • Volleyball Falls to Sewanee, 3-1
    October 21, 2017
    On Saturday afternoon, the Oglethorpe volleyball team hosted the Sewanee Tigers. The Stormy Petrels were able to come away with a first set win, however the Tigers would win the next three sets to give themselves the 3-1 victory. The Petrels dropped to 3-18 on the season and 1-12 in the SAA. 
  • Piedmont Comes Back from Set Down to Beat Volleyball, 3-2
    October 19, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team took a 2-1 lead on the road Thursday night in Demorest, but the homestanding Piedmont Lions mounted a comeback over the final two sets to turn the tables and take the match, 3-2. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-17 on the season overall.
  • Volleyball Falls to Millsaps in Straight Sets
    October 14, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell to the visiting Millsaps Majors Saturday afternoon at Dorough Field House, dropping all three sets. The Stormy Petrels now sit at 3-16 on the season and 1-11 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Drops Hard-Fought Match to Birmingham-Southern

    On Friday night, the Oglethorpe volleyball team returned home from a seven-match road trip to face a tough SAA opponent, Birmingham-Southern. The Stormy Petrels fought valiantly, but failed to come away with a set in a 3-0 match that was closer than the score would indicate. The Petrels lost the three sets by a combined 11 points. The loss places the Petrels at 3-15 on the season and 1-10 in SAA play. 
  • Volleyball Set to Support Breast Cancer Awareness this Month with "Blocks and Burpees for Boobies" Initiative

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team will be promoting and raising money to support breast cancer awareness this month as part of their "Blocks and Burpees for Boobies" campaign, in conjunction with Tropical Smoothie Cafe Brookhaven. Fans will be able to support the cause by donating on location at Oglethorpe's four home matches in October: Friday against Birmingham-Southern at 7 p.m., Saturday against Millsaps at noon, Oct. 21 against Sewanee at 1 p.m., and Oct. 22 against Centre at noon.
  • Volleyball Falls to Division II Clark Atlanta in Midweek Matchup

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team went across town Wednesday afternoon to take on the homestanding Clark Atlanta Panthers, a Division II side, and picked up a first set victory. However, Clark Atlanta came back with three straight wins over the final three sets to take the match 3-1. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-14 on the season.
  • Taryn North Named SAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

    Sophomore libero Taryn North of the Oglethorpe volleyball team earned SAA Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league office on Monday after playing well all week and leading the Stormy Petrels to a 3-1 victory at Rhodes on Sunday.
  • Volleyball Defeats Rhodes 3-1, Bags First SAA Victory of Season

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team picked up their first SAA win of the season Sunday, as they ended their six-match road trip with a 3-1 victory over Rhodes in Memphis, Tennessee. Down 1-0 after falling 25-23 in the first set, the Stormy Petrels responded by winning three unanswered sets, taking the second and third 25-20, and the fourth 25-22. The result improved the Petrels to 3-13 on the season overall and 1-9 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Falls 3-1 at Hendrix
    October 07, 2017
    On Saturday afternoon, the Oglethorpe volleyball team traveled to Conway, Arkansas, for their fifth straight road match. The Stormy Petrels lost the match 3-1 against the SAA rival Hendrix Warriors for the second match-up of the season between the two teams. With the Stormy Petrels unable to come away with a victory, they are now 2-13 on the season, 0-9 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Swept by No. 4 Emory, Agnes Scott in Tri-Match

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team had a tough evening Thursday at Woodruff Gym in Decatur. They took on the homestanding Agnes Scott Scotties and the No. 4 Emory Eagles in a tri-match and fell in both, dropping a tough 3-2 decision to Agnes Scott before getting swept by the nationally-ranked Eagles, 3-0.
  • Volleyball Loses Three-Set Match at Sewanee

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team hung tough in a three-set match with the visiting Sewanee Tigers on Sunday, but fell in all three stanzas to lose 3-0. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 2-10 on the season overall and 0-8 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Drops Road Match to Centre in Three Sets

    On Saturday afternoon, the Oglethorpe volleyball team traveled to Danville, Kentucky, to face SAA rival Centre. The Stormy Petrels would lose the match to the homestanding Colonels, 3-0, dropping them to 2-9 on the season overall and 0-7 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Outlasted by Berry, 3-0
    September 27, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team found themselves in a competitive match Wednesday evening against a Berry team that was 5-0 in SAA play coming in. The Stormy Petrels had chances to win two sets, but the visiting Vikings prevailed in all three, in the end, winning 3-0. Berry took the first set 25-21, the second 25-15, and the third 25-22. The loss dropped the Petrels to 2-8 on the season overall and 0-6 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Drops SAA Match to Hendrix Despite Big Third-Set Comeback

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team faced off against the visiting Hendrix Warriors Sunday afternoon at Dorough Field House. This was Oglethorpe's second conference matchup of the weekend. The Stormy Petrels fought hard, especially in a third set where they came back from a 15-6 deficit to stay alive, but the Hendrix Warriors won the match 3-1, resulting in Oglethorpe falling to 2-7 on the season overall and 0-5 in SAA play.  
  • Volleyball Falls to Rhodes in SAA Home Opener
    September 23, 2017
    After being on the road for the previous four matches, the Oglethorpe volleyball team returned home to face SAA rival Rhodes Saturday inside Dorough Field House. The Lynx won the match 3-0, dropping the Petrels to 2-6 on the season overall and 0-4 in the SAA. 
  • ESPN's Maria Taylor Visits with Women's Basketball, Volleyball Teams

    The Oglethorpe women’s basketball and volleyball teams were surprised with a special guest appearance by ESPN College GameDay host Maria Taylor on Monday evening. The event was a truly memorable evening for both programs as Taylor was able to connect with the athletes on a variety of different topics throughout her motivational discussion.
  • Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Defeat at Millsaps

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team finished a tough road trip on Sunday afternoon, falling to the homestanding Millsaps Majors in Jackson, Mississippi, 3-0. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 2-5 on the young season, 0-3 in SAA play. The visitors got behind the eight-ball early with a 25-7 defeat in the first set. They played better in the next two, but lost 25-19 and 25-17, respectively.
  • Volleyball Falls to Birmingham-Southern in SAA Road Contest
    September 16, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-0 in an SAA road match against Birmingham-Southern Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama. The Stormy Petrels put together a competitive first set, falling 25-22 to the homestanding Panthers, but dropped the final two 25-15 and 25-13, respectively. The defeat dropped the team to 2-4 on the season overall and 0-2 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Opens SAA Slate with 3-0 Defeat at Berry
    September 13, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team had a tough evening Wednesday in Mount Berry, as they fell 3-0 in their conference opener to the homestanding Berry Vikings. The Stormy Petrels got behind the eight-ball early and couldn't recover against the high-powered home team. The defeat dropped Oglethorpe to 2-3 on the season.
  • Tuesday's Volleyball Match against Piedmont Postponed Due to Tropical Storm Irma
    September 11, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team's home match against Piedmont, originally scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Dorough Field House, has been postponed due to the aftereffects of Tropical Storm Irma. The match will be rescheduled for a date and time to be announced.
  • Monday's Volleyball Match Canceled Due to Hurricane Irma
    September 10, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball match against Clark Atlanta, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday in Dorough Field House, has been canceled due to expected impacts in Atlanta from Hurricane Irma. The match is not expected to be rescheduled.
  • Volleyball Falls to Covenant in Five-Set Thriller
    September 06, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team has proved to be a resilient group early in the season, and Wednesday night was no different. The Stormy Petrels fought back from a set down twice on the road in Lookout Mountain, eventually forcing a decisive fifth set. However, the homestanding Covenant Scots prevailed in that frame, going on an 11-2 run to finish it after falling behind 8-4 in the fifth set, outlasting the Petrels 3-2.
  • Volleyball Drops Final Match of Stormy Petrel Challenge to Piedmont, Finishes Event 2-1
    September 03, 2017
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team ran into a tough opponent from Piedmont Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Stormy Petrel Challenge at Dorough Field House, and the visiting Lions were able to knock off the Stormy Petrels 3-0. The result dropped Oglethorpe to 2-1 on the season and solidified Piedmont as the only undefeated team from the 4-team weekend event.
