  • Jacoby Sims, Ashlee Tolbert Earn All-SAA Recognition

    Sophomore outside hitter Jacoby Sims and senior middle blocker Ashlee Tolbert of the Oglethorpe volleyball team earned All-SAA honors Friday morning at the banquet leading up to the SAA Tournament in Mount Berry, Georgia. Sims was named to the All-SAA second team and Tolbert took All-SAA honorable mention, as voted by the league's coaches.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team faced an uphill battle Friday evening at the SAA Tournament in Mount Berry, Georgia. The seventh-seeded Stormy Petrels were taking on No. 2 seed Birmingham-Southern in the tournament's opening round at Berry's Cage Center. The Petrels fought valiantly, but succumbed to the Panthers 3-0. Oglethorpe completes their season at 6-23 for the year.
  • Volleyball Earns Split at Emory National Invitational

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Emory National Invitational on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, sweeping Salem in straight sets and falling to Washington and Lee in similar fashion. The results moved the Stormy Petrels to 6-22 to close the regular season.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team earned their second SAA win of the season Saturday afternoon at Dorough Field House, defeating the visiting Centre Colonels in straight sets, 3-0. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in conference play. They earned their second victory of the season over Centre, as they also won a 3-2 barnburner Sept. 16 in Danville, Kentucky.

The Stormy Petrels fought hard, but fell 3-0 to the homestanding Warriors, losing sets 25-20, 25-22 and 25-19. The defeat dropped the Petrels to 3-13 on the season overall and 1-6 in SAA play.

    Oglethorpe’s Volleyball team were hosted by the 8-5 Rhodes Lynx Saturday afternoon at the Mallory Gymnasium in Memphis, Tennessee. After 3 close sets, the Petrels fell to the Lynx 3-0.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team took on the Millsaps Majors Sunday afternoon in the second of back-to-back conference matches this weekend. Millsaps edged out the Stormy Petrels after four close sets, winning 3-1.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team faced off against the Birmingham-Southern Panthers. The Panthers came back from 20-16 down in the first set to win, then used the momentum from that to win the match 3-0. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-10 on the season overall and 1-3 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball Sweeps Huntingdon for Third Straight Win

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team played their best match of the season so far Thursday night in their home opener at Dorough Field House. The Stormy Petrels ran away from the visiting Huntingdon Hawks early and never let up en route to a 3-0 sweep. The home side won the three sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-16, and improved to 3-9 on the season as they head into the second weekend of SAA play.
  • Volleyball Takes Two in Kentucky for First Victories of Season

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team earned their first two victories of the season Sunday afternoon in Danville, Kentucky, as they defeated Centre and Huntingdon in a pair of 5-set matches. The Stormy Petrels took the first match against Centre 25-17, 17-25, 25-15, 14-25, 15-13, then took the match against Huntingdon by the score of 23-25, 27-25, 25-27, 25-19, 20-18. The victories improved the Petrels to 2-9 on the season, 1-2 in SAA play.

They fell 3-2 to Wisconsin Lutheran in their first match of the day, then dropped a 3-0 decision to Cardinal Stritch in the nightcap. The results dropped them to 0-2 to start the season.
