Matthews, who officially began his tenure on July 1st, spent three years as an Assistant Coach at the University of Arkansas and one year with Piedmont College.  While at Arkansas, he was mentored by two-time SEC Coach of the Year, Chris Poole.  During his time with the Lady'Backs, the program achieved three NCAA appearances and won three SEC Western Division Championships.  Kurt primarily worked with the Libero's, team and individual defense and the setters.  At Piedmont College, he coached under two-time Great South Athletic Conference of the year, Katie O'Brien and was a part of a staff that led the program to its first ever GSAC Championship.  Coach Matthews primarily was in charge of team training during practices.  As a NCAA Division I & III assistant coach, Coach Matthews has a record of 98-37 with a winning % of .721.  Coach Matthews is also the former Owner/Director for the Ozark Junior Olympic program located out of Arkansas.  Under his direction, the fledgling club expanded from 11 returning players to well over 400 members in his four years, and gained a national reputation.  Ozark produced the state's first ever Top 30 recruit, members of the National High Performance Programs, numerous prepAll Americans, as well as producing a number of Division I, II, and III performers.  Ozark placed athletes in the The University of Arkansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, the University of Hawaii, Arkansas State, and a host of other programs.  Ozark was featured on www.prepvolleyball.comfor its growth under his direction.  Matthews has been actively involved in the Atlanta Volleyball Community for well over 18 years.  He has managed various Junior Olympic Volleyball programs, administered adult leagues and tournaments, participated in competitive adult USA Volleyball Men's A/AA teams and hosted a number of camps/clinics for both children and adults.  He has coached numerous college camps including the University of Arkansas, University of Alabama, Emory University and East Tennessee State University.  Coach Matthews is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in Recreation Administration and currently resides in Suwanee, Georgia.

Bob Westbrook

Nickname: "Sparky"
Title: Associate Head Coach

Bob Westbrook is a founding member of A5 Volleyball Club, one of the nation's most successful Junior Olympic Volleyball Clubs, and continues as one of the primary pillars of the club.  His accomplishments includes coaching at the NCAA Division I college level for several colleges including University of Florida, George Washington, and Georgia State University.  He also founded the highly successful Front Range Volleyball Club in Colorado.

The most important aspect of Coach Westbrook's wrk is bringing national volleyball prominance to Atlanta both through club success and player success at the college level.  During the 2008 season, Bob's team reached new heights winning the 18 and Under USAV National Division.  Coach Westbrook also owns the highly successful Volleyball Training Academy called VolleyPerformance.  Volleyperformance trains thousands of athletes annually from College All-Americans to 8 year old beginners.

Scott is currently the Director of Operations for A5 Volleyball, one of the nation's premiere Junior Olympic Volleyball clubs.  Scott is a former Director of Volleyball Operations for North Carolina, and has worked on the staffs of Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Jacksonville University.

Scott is a highly successful Junior's coach, who has guided teams to numerous medals at US nationals.  Scott is a Master Coach with VolleyPerformance Training Academy.

A native of Manilla, Philippines, Ramos has 25 years of volleyball experience that includes a stint with the Philippine Youth National Team. Coach Ramos is currently a Youth Director for A5 Volleyball Club, one of the premiere volleyball clubs in the United States. She graduated from Oglethorpe with a degree in Business Administration in 1995.
