Senior Rodrigo Meade of the Oglethorpe men's cross country team has been named the OU Male Athlete of the Week.
Meade had an excellent race at the Rhodes College Invitational Saturday in Memphis, Tennessee. He finished 29th, and sixth among Division III athletes, with a time of 25 minutes, 51.9 seconds. That served as one of the best 8-kilometer times in program history. Meade led his team to a sixth-place finish at the meet, putting them second among Division III teams and ahead of defending SAA champion Rhodes.
Meade and the rest of the Petrels will be back in action Saturday when they travel back up to Tennessee for the Sewanee Invitational. After that, they'll compete in a pair of October meets as they continue to get ready for the SAA Championships on Nov. 2.
