Anderson Field has been the home of the Stormy Petrel baseball team since the 1940s. It has one of the most unique settings to watch a college baseball game in the country. Hermance Stadium overlooks the field and was built in 1929 for the Oglethorpe football team. It has played host to Oglethorpe football, soccer and baseball contests in its 85 years of existence. Hermance Stadium is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Anderson Field offers today’s players one of the nicest playing surfaces in the region with a hybrid Bermuda surface and a pro-mix infield. The field combines an historic feel with modern amenities to give players, coaches and fans an enjoyable experience. Players have full access to 3-covered batting tunnels with lighting that allows them to work on their craft year around. A players locker room is right off the field. The weight and training are also located just outside the field.
