  • Men's golf ends with flourish, finishes sixth at Emory Spring Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team recovered from a tough Saturday at the Emory Spring Invitational to fire the second best round of the day Sunday, recording a 5-over-par 289 to vault a couple spots up the leaderboard into sixth place at Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain. The No. 20 Stormy Petrels finished 24 strokes back of the champions, No. 2 Huntingdon.
  • Men's golf holds at No. 20 in latest coaches poll

    The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) placed the Oglethorpe men's golf team at No. 20 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. It marked the third straight poll release in which the Stormy Petrels were ranked and the second straight time in which they came in at No. 20.
  • Five new honorees inducted into Oglethorpe Athletics Hall of Fame

    The Oglethorpe Athletics Hall of Fame got five new members Friday night. Women's basketball players Anna Findley Roberts and Katie Kulavic Fox, men's soccer player Josh Rosendahl, men's golfer Taylor Urbanski, and the 1963 men's tennis team were all inducted at Oglethorpe's Turner Lynch Campus Center at the 2019 Alumni Awards and Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony, part of Alumni Weekend festivities at the university.
  • Justin Rickerson takes SAA Men's Golfer of the Week honors

    Freshman Justin Rickerson of the Oglethorpe men's golf team has been named the SAA Men's Golfer of the Week for his efforts in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, last weekend at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship. It marked the first such award for Rickerson this season and the second time that a Stormy Petrel has taken the honor.
  • Men's golf finishes fourth at Camp Lejeune

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship Sunday on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The Stormy Petrels shot 9-over-par 301 on Sunday, dropping behind Methodist and North Carolina Wesleyan -- who shot 299 -- and Hampden-Sydney -- who shot 300. 
  • Men's golf moves up to 20th in latest coaches' poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved up five spots to No. 20 in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marked their second straight top-25 placement after they reentered the rankings at No. 25 in early March.
  • Anthony DeRosa earns SAA Men's Golfer of the Week honors

    Sophomore Anthony DeRosa of the Oglethorpe men's golf team nabbed the SAA Men's Golfer of the Week award this week for his efforts at the Stormy Petrels' own Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Jekyll Island Golf Club. It marked his first career SAA weekly award.
  • Men's golf finishes fourth after wild day at Jekyll Island

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team enjoyed an outstanding Saturday at the Jekyll Island Golf Club, firing a 2-under-par 286 on the day to vault five spots up the leaderboard into fourth place at 4-over 580 over 36 holes at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. They'll enter Sunday's final round on the club's Pine Lakes course eight strokes behind first-place Emory.
  • Men's golf comes back late to win Adidas Intercollegiate

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team earned a victory in their first tournament of the spring season this week, firing a round of 8-over-par 296 on Tuesday to win the Adidas Intercollegiate with a three-round tally of 19-over 883. The Stormy Petrels finished three strokes ahead of second-place Hampden-Sydney and 14 strokes up on third-place North Carolina Wesleyan. It marked the team's first victory in a tournament since they tied for first at the SAA Fall Preview in early September.
  • Men's golf moves back into coaches top 25

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved into the top 25 of the Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll Friday, reentering the rankings at 25th. It marked the first time the Stormy Petrels cracked the top 25 since the Sept. 28 poll, as they fell out for three straight releases during the latter half of the fall.
  • Men's golf rained out at Callaway Gardens, will compete at Adidas Intercollegiate instead

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team saw a major schedule change this week. The Stormy Petrels were set to begin their spring season at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday, but that tournament has been canceled due to a water-logged course with additional heavy rain in the forecast.
  • 2019 Men's Golf Spring Preview

    The Oglethorpe men’s golf program looks forward to the spring season to bounce back from a shaky fall. “We haven’t been out of the top 25 in about 15 years,” commented Oglethorpe Director of Golf Jim Owen. “This fall we sandwiched an early September win in Tennessee with an excellent final two rounds of 292-289 at Sandestin. However, in between, we had three events in a row where we finished out of the top 10. We have a lot of ground to make up."
  • Jacob Arnett selected to participate in Patriot All-America

    The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) selected Oglethorpe senior men's golfer Jacob Arnett to compete in the prestigious Patriot All-America Invitational this week. It marked the eighth time that a member of the Stormy Petrels has earned a spot in the tournament and the first since 2016.
  • Rickerson Finishes Tied for 6th at Chick-fil-A Collegiate; Team of Men's Golf Individuals Comes in Third

    The Oglethorpe men's golf put a team of individuals into the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational this week in Rome, and they saw some solid performances on the week overall, led by freshman Justin Rickerson. The Stormy Petrel newcomer finished tied for sixth with an impressive 3-under-par 69 on Tuesday. That allowed him to finish at 1-over 145 overall and put him just six strokes back of the individual medalist, Reed Love of Central Alabama.
  • Men's Golf Uses Final-Round Surge to Shoot into Tie for 12th at Golfweek Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team carded its best round of the 54-hole Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational on Tuesday in Miramar Beach, Florida, posting a 5-over-par 289 to move three spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 12th to finish the tournament at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Raven Golf Club. They finished with an overall score of 37-over 889, putting them 47 strokes back of champions Emory.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 10th at Tartan Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished their week at the Tartan Invitational in Ligonier Township, Pennsylvania, Tuesday with an 18-over-par 306 at the historic Laurel Valley Golf Club, giving them a 52-over 916 for the week and putting them in 10th place out of 12 teams, 43 strokes back of champions Wittenberg. 
  • Arnett Wins Individual Medal at Royal Lakes Invitational, Men's Golf Finishes 13th

    Senior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team earned his second individual medal of the fall season Tuesday at the Oglethorpe-Royal Lakes Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch. He posted a 3-under-par 69 at the Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, finishing the tournament at 8-under 136 to win by three strokes over Tyler Newton of York (Pennsylvania).  The Stormy Petrels finished 13th as a team at the tournament, as they posted a 12-over 300 for the day and came in at 30-over 606 for the tournament. That put them 22 strokes behind a first-place tie between Babson and Greensboro. 
  • Men's Golf 18th in Latest Coaches' Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team dropped one spot to No. 18 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Stormy Petrels were ranked 17th in the preseason poll put out by the same organization.
  • Men's Golf Finishes NCAA Fall Preview in 16th Place

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team completed their stay at the NCAA Division III Men's Fall Preview with a 16th-place finish, firing a 14-over-par 302 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 64-over 928, 62 strokes back of champions Emory. The Stormy Petrels were in tough amidst a stacked tournament field, 12 of the 18 teams competing were ranked in the preseason coaches' poll, and were unable to get untracked over the course of the two days.
  • Men's Golf Set for NCAA Fall Preview, Kicking Fall Season off In Earnest

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team is back in action this weekend at their first major national event of the fall season, the NCAA Division III Men's Fall Preview. That event will take place in Nicholasville, Kentucky, at the Keene Trace Golf Club, home of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
  • Men's Golf Comes from Six Strokes Back to Tie for First at SAA Fall Preview

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team got the new season off to an outstanding start Sunday at the SAA Fall Preview in Dickson, Tennessee, as they came back from six strokes behind to tie Berry for first place at the 36-hole event at Greystone Golf Club. They shot a 1-under-par 575, finishing with a 1-under 287 in the first round and an even-par 288 in the second.
  • Todd Brooks Named Director of Athletics at Oglethorpe University

    Brooks has been appointed as director of athletics at Oglethorpe University, effective Aug. 27. The former Berry College athletics director brings 30 years of collegiate athletics experience .
