The men's lacrosse team found life on the road in the SCAC to be a difficult one on Saturday afternoon, losing to Birmingham-Southern in Alabama, 20-2.
The Panthers immediately established their dominance in this contest, scoring nine unanswered goals in the first quarter to remove any doubt. Birmingham would lead 12-0 at halftime and hold a 14-0 advantage before Oglethorpe finally cracked the scoreboard with a Garret LeBlanc assisted strike from Maseo Brown with a minute remaining in the third. Brown would add an unassisted goal in the fourth to account for all of the Petrel scoring on the afternoon.
Birmingham held distinct advantages in the major statistical categories, including outshooting the Petrels 73-19, winning 26 more ground ball opportunities and forcing the Petrels into 46 turnovers versus only 35 for the Panthers.
At 2-4 on the season, Oglethorpe is back in action at home on Salamone Field versus Sewanee this Friday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m.
