The Stormy Petrel striker garnered a spot on the organization's NCAA Division III men's all-America second team, released Thursday evening in conjunction with the NCAA banquet prior to the men's and women's national semifinals in Greensboro, North Carolina.
  • Four men's soccer players earn coaches' All-Region honors

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team put an impressive four players on the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Men's Division III All-South Atlantic Region Teams Monday, marking the most players the Stormy Petrels have put on an All-Region squad since 2011. The All-Region teams are voted on by coaches from across the South Atlantic region.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team saw their season come to a close Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Virginia, as they fell to the Gettysburg Bullets 5-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. The result moved the Stormy Petrels to 14-5 to end the season.

  • Men's soccer earns at-large bid to NCAA Division III tournament

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team grabbed one of 21 general at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Monday, marking the program's third trip to the national tournament and their second in three years. The 14-4 Stormy Petrels, currently ranked 18th in the country, will take on 11-7-1 Gettysburg in their first-round matchup at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from Lexington, Virginia. The Bullets earned an at-large bid out of the Centennial Conference. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Lexington pod's other first-round matchup between host Washington and Lee, currently ranked 11th in the country, and North Carolina Wesleyan in the second-round game at 1 p.m. Sunday from Lexington.
  • Men's soccer places nine on All-SAA teams, Waegelin earns top defensive honor

    The SAA men's soccer coaches voted nine members of the Oglethorpe men's soccer team onto the All-SAA teams, released Monday by the league office. In addition, senior defender Christian Waegelin earned SAA Defensive Player of the Year honors, marking the fifth straight season in which a member of the team has earned a conference postseason award.

    The No. 19 and top-seeded Oglethorpe men's soccer team found themselves locked in a tight game with eighth-seeded Hendrix in the early-going Saturday afternoon in the first round of the SAA tournament at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. The Stormy Petrels led 1-0 at halftime, but ran off four goals in the second half to pull away for a 5-0 victory. The win improved the Petrels to 13-3 on the season, extended their winning streak to eight games, and advanced to the conference semifinals for the fourth year in a row.

The Stormy Petrels also increased their multi-year unbeaten streak in SAA play to 26 games with the win.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak in SAA play to 25 games Friday afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, with a 3-0 win over Rhodes. The victory improved the Stormy Petrels' current overall winning streak to five games and pulled them to within one win of clinching at least a share of their fifth straight SAA regular season crown, as well as home-field advantage throughout the SAA tournament.

Rodriguez earned the honor for his efforts in the Stormy Petrels' 2-0 weekend, featuring blowout wins over Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps.
  • Men's soccer continues record-breaking weekend with 8-1 rout of Millsaps

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team scored 17 goals over the weekend in a pair of SAA contests, throwing in eight Sunday afternoon in an 8-1 win over the Millsaps Majors at a rainy Oglethorpe Track and Field. The ridiculous goal-scoring output marked the most goals scored over consecutive conference games in program history. It also served as the most scored in consecutive games overall for the Petrels since 2004 when they scored 22 goals over two games, including 18 in one game against Fisk.
  • Men's soccer blows out Birmingham-Southern 9-0 in battle between SAA first-place teams

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team played their best game of the season so far Friday night, extending their SAA unbeaten streak to 23 games in emphatic fashion with a 9-0 rout of a Birmingham-Southern team who came in tied with the Stormy Petrels for first place in the conference with a 2-0 record. The Petrels left the Oglethorpe Track and Field Friday night having firmly placed themselves on the inside track for the SAA race, improving their record to 3-0 in league play and 8-3 overall.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team outshot the visiting Roanoke Maroons and took the initiative for much of the game Sunday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but the visitors bagged a goal in each half and withstood the Stormy Petrel onslaught for a 2-0 win. The defeat dropped Oglethorpe to 5-3 on the season.
  • Men's soccer runs past Anderson 7-1

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team got started early and never let up against the visiting Anderson (Indiana) Ravens Friday night, winning 7-1 at the Oglethorpe Track and Field to improve to 5-2 on the season. The Stormy Petrels got a hat trick from sophomore forward Abraham Lopez in the first 15 minutes of the game, a pair of goals and an assist from senior forward Gabe Alvarez, and a pair of assists from sophomore forward Tuli Mwarumba en route to the 6-goal victory.
  • Men's soccer falls to No. 23 Washington and Lee, 2-1

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team scored an early goal Sunday against the No. 23 Washington and Lee Generals in Lexington, Virginia, but the home side answered with two goals, including one in the 90th minute, to upend the Stormy Petrels and drop them to 4-2 on the season.
  • Men's soccer suffers first loss of season at Lynchburg

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team, ranked third in the coaches' poll and 13th in the D3soccer.com poll coming into this weekend, fell to the homestanding Lynchburg Hornets 2-1 Friday night in Virginia for their first loss of the young season. Lynchburg's Luke Mega scored twice, the second time with just 10 minutes left, and the Stormy Petrels couldn't make it back. The Petrels fell to 4-1 on the campaign.
