The Oglethorpe men's track and field team finished 14th this weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Mount Berry. The event took place over two days at Berry's Valhalla stadium.
The Stormy Petrels were led on the weekend by sophomore Jonathan Vernon, who finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10 minutes, 30.56 seconds. Freshman Lindsey Green finished eighth in that same event, posting a time of 11:08.71.
Elsewhere, Meade finished fifth in the 1500-meter run, coming home with a time of 4:04.08. Faal finished seventh in the 800-meter run, recording a time of 1:58.3. In addition, Alvarez finished ninth in the 200-meter dash, just out of the scoring, posting a time of 22.19 seconds.
"This weekend was another big step toward our conference meet at the end of the month," said Oglethorpe head coach Kirk Shellhouse. "We had some good performances this weekend, and we also had a couple of performances that I think we can improve on. We've got a couple weeks to get ready for the conference meet, so I'm looking forward to seeing how our group responds."
The Petrels will be back in action on Friday, when they travel to Sewanee, Tennessee, for the Mountain Laurel Twilight Invitational. They'll be back at the same track a week later for the SAA Track and Field Championships April 20 and 21.
