    The SAA released their winter and spring all-sportsmanship teams Friday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons.

  • McNealy finishes 19th at NCAA Championships 400-meter race

    Freshman Bryce McNealy of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team finished 19th in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The first-year Stormy Petrel athlete recorded a time of 49.50 seconds in his preliminary heat.

The Stormy Petrel takes to the track at 3:15 p.m. Friday for the event's preliminary heats.
  • Two men's track and field athletes earn All-Region honors

    Freshman Bryce McNealy and sophomore Jake Hadden both earned 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field All-South/Southeast Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Sunday night. The Oglethorpe men's track and field program has now placed three athletes on the All-Region list over the last two seasons. It marked the first career regional track accolades for both McNealy and Hadden.

    Freshman Bryce McNealy of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team qualified for the 400-meter dash competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday. It marked the third time that a member of the program qualified for the Division III national meet after Stephen Summerow and Nathan Briesemeister in 1992 and 1994, respectively.
  • Shaw, McNealy move into NCAA qualifying position with season-best marks at Falcon Finale

    The Oglethorpe track and field teams saw two participants move into position to potentially qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Falcon Finale in Montevallo, Alabama. Senior Arielle Shaw jumped a season-best 38 feet, 6.75 inches in the women's triple jump to move up into a tie for 16th nationally, while freshman Bryce McNealy won the men's 400 meters in 48.06 seconds and moved up to 14th nationally.
  • Stormy Petrels close out academic year with 2019 Petey Awards

    The Oglethorpe athletic department rounded out the season with the Seventh Annual Petey Awards on Sunday, hosted at the university's Conant Performing Arts Center. The event, which is produced by the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), allowed Oglethorpe student-athletes to honor the best and brightest performances of the year while reflecting on the 2018-19 athletic year as a whole.
  • Men's track and field places five on All-SAA first team; Etiwe wins pair of postseason awards

    The Oglethorpe men's track and field team placed five athletes on the sport's All-SAA first team, released Monday by the league office, while freshman Toju Etiwe earned both the SAA Men's Field Athlete of the Year and SAA Men's Track and Field Newcomer of the Year honors. Joining Etiwe on the all-conference first team were senior Rodrigo Meade, sophomore Jake Hadden, and freshmen Bryce McNealy and John Griner.

    The Oglethorpe track and field teams closed out their stay at the Emory Classic on Saturday with an eventful day. The women got a first-place finish from senior Arielle Shaw on the day and scored points via their relay team, while freshman Bryce McNealy placed for the men.

    Senior Arielle Shaw and freshman Hayden Guthrie of the Oglethorpe track and field teams have earned weekly honors from the league's coaches for their efforts at the Emory Invitational Friday and Saturday. Shaw took home SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while Guthrie garnered SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It marked the first weekly award of Guthrie's career and the third of Shaw's.

    The Oglethorpe track and field teams competed across town at the Emory Invitational Friday and Saturday, with the men's squad finishing 16th out of 27 teams and the women's team coming in 19th out of 30.
  • Jacob Hadden named SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week

    Sophomore Jacob Hadden of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team won SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors Wednesday, as voted by the league's coaches. It marked Hadden's first such award of the track season after he took the SAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award once during the fall. It's Hadden's fourth career SAA weekly award and his second track weekly award.

  • Hadden, Lester earn cross country all-academic honors

    Sophomores Jacob Hadden and Bill Lester of the Oglethorpe men's cross country team received all-academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday. It marked the first such career award for Lester and the second straight for Hadden.

The season will last all the way until at least the SAA Track and Field Championships in Conway, Arkansas, April 26 and 27, with several competitors likely looking to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in late May in Geneva, Ohio.
