Men finish 16th, women 19th at Emory Invitational

The Oglethorpe track and field teams competed across town at the Emory Invitational Friday and Saturday, with the men's squad finishing 16th out of 27 teams and the women's team coming in 19th out of 30.

The Stormy Petrel men's squad was led by freshman Bryce McNealy, who won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.92 seconds. The Petrel freshman also set a personal best of 22.53 seconds in the 200-meter dash, finishing 11th. 

Senior Rodrigo Meade ran an outstanding 800 meters, setting a personal best of his own finishing in 1 minute, 57.22 seconds. He finished eighth at the meet, and that mark serves as the best 800-meter run by an SAA athlete this season. 

Meade was also a part of the 4-by-800 relay squad, who finished second and set a school record with a time of 8:01.92. Meade joined junior Nick Evans and freshmen Thomas Ridley and John Griner on the record-setting squad.

Freshman Hayden Guthrie set a school record in the 10,000 meters, finishing in 32:55.94. He came in ninth at the meet.

On the women's side, senior Arielle Shaw had her best triple jump of the season so far, leaping 36 feet, 10.25 inches to win the event at the Emory Invitational. 

Senior Nicolette Andrey finished sixth in the 400 meters on Saturday, recording a time of 59.29 seconds. She also finished fourth in the long jump on Friday with a leap of 17-0.5. 

Freshman Sierra Sieracki won her section in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.54 seconds.

The Petrels wll be back at Emory next weekend for the Emory Classic, set to take place Friday and Sunday.
