Freshman Bryce McNealy of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team will compete in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Stormy Petrel takes to the track at 3:15 p.m. for the event's preliminary heats.
McNealy enters the weekend seeded 14th out of 20 competitors at the national meet, having posted a season-best time of 48.06 seconds at the Falcon Finale May 10 in Montevallo, Alabama. That serves as the fifth-best qualifying time in his seven-man preliminary heat, which features the top-seeded Patrick Mikel from Loras, as well as the sixth, seventh and 13th national seeds.
The winners of the three preliminary heats and the next six best times from all of the three heats combined advance to Saturday's nine-man, 400-meter final at 1:20 p.m.
