Freshman Bryce McNealy of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team finished 19th in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The first-year Stormy Petrel athlete recorded a time of 49.50 seconds in his preliminary heat.
The winners of each of the three preliminary heats advanced to Saturday's final along with the owner's of the next six best overall times, with the other 11 competitors eliminated.
McNealy finishes the year having set the school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.06 seconds at the Falcon Finale May 10 in Montevallo, Alabama.
He became the first member of the men's track and field program to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 1994.
