Ransom earns spot on D3hoops.com All-Region first team

Senior forward Lauren Ransom of the Oglethorpe women's basketball team earned a spot on the D3hoops.com women's All-South Region first team Monday. It marked the first All-Region honor of her career and continued an outstanding award season for the Nashville, Tennessee, native, who has earned SAA Player of the Year, All-SAA first team, and SAA all-tournament honors, as well.

Ransom finished eighth in the South region in total blocks with 46 and came in 10th in blocks per game with 1.59. In addition, she finished second in the SAA in rebounding with 7.7 per game and came in fifth in made free throws with 85.

In addition to the SAA end-of-year accolades, Ransom earned SAA Player of the Week honors in each of the last two weeks of the regular season.

Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for all-America selection. The women's D3hoops.com All-America team will be announced this weekend in conjunction with the final two rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship in Salem, Virginia.
 
This is the 18th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's all-America team will be the 22nd annual all-America selections by the website. The D3hoops.com All-America teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
