Women's golf earns pair of All-SAA nods

The Oglethorpe women's golf team saw two players earn spots on the All-SAA teams released this week by the conference office. Senior Hailey Willman nabbed All-SAA first-team honors, while sophomore Angel Sanchez grabbed a spot on the All-SAA second team.

Willman garnered a spot on the All-SAA first team for the second time in her career after also earning the honor in 2017. She finished fourth at the SAA Championships over the weekend, marking her highest-ever conference finish. She posted a 15-over-par 234 at the event. Her best finish of the season came at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational, where she came in third after posting a two-round score of 8-over 152. She's currently ranked fifth in the region and 48th in all of Division III.

Sanchez earned her second career All-SAA honor, earning a first-team nod after her freshman season. She recorded three top 15 finishes during the fall, including a tie for first at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate. She suffered an injury which forced her to sit for a significant portion of the spring, but collected a pair of top 10 finishes when she came back, finishing fifth at the BSC Southern Showdown and sixth at the SAA Championships. At the latter, she finished 17-over 236 to garner her top 10 finish. She carded 6-over 150 for her best tournament of the year at the Chick-fil-A.

Willman and Sanchez led the Petrels to their second consecutive runner-up finish at the conference tournament. The team posted a 54-hole score of 83-over 959 and finished ahead of two fellow nationally-ranked teams. The Petrels finish the season ranked 16th in the Division III coaches poll and 17th in the Golfstat rankings.
