Women's golf finishes fall ranked 20th in coaches' poll

The Oglethorpe women's golf team rounded out the fall season ranked 20th in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll, released Friday by the organization. The Stormy Petrels moved up a notch from No. 21 at the end of October.

The Petrels started the season at No. 17 in the preseason poll, then moved up as high as No. 12 in September. They dropped to 21st in October and settled in at No. 20 to close out November.

Carnegie Mellon remained in the top spot with seven of a possible 13 first-place votes, while Redlands stood pat at No. 2 with four first-place votes. Washington (Missouri) received the other top vote and jumped three spots to No. 3, while George Fox and Claremont-M-S each dropped a spot to fourth and fifth, respectively. Methodist, Williams, Pomona-Pitzer, New York University and Rhodes rounded out the top 10.

The Petrels served as one of three SAA teams to work their way into the top 25. They joined No. 10 Rhodes and No. 18 Centre in the poll. Berry fell out of the poll, but received the most votes of any team not in the top 25.
