Women's Soccer Falls 3-0 on Senior Day

The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell to the visiting Rhodes Lynx Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. With the loss, the Stormy Petrels fell to 4-10-1 on the season overall and 1-4-1 in SAA play.

Rhodes got the scoring started with a follow-up goal off a saved shot in the 19th minute. The Petrels were able to keep them off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half, but Rhodes controlled the run of play, outshooting the Petrels 15-2 over the opening 45 minutes. They doubled their lead early in the second half with another rebound goal in the 50th minute, then put the game away with a third goal in the 64th minute. 

Rhodes outshot the Petrels 20-1 in the second half and 35-3 for the game, including a 15-2 tally in shots on goal. The Lynx took two corner kicks to none for Oglethorpe. 

Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Hutson-Hamric recorded seven saves over her 45 minutes of play, while sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas recorded four saves over the course of the first half.

Prior to the game, the Oglethorpe women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day, acknowledging the careers of forwards Precious Buddington and Nicolette Andrey, defenders Sydney Allen and Sedaries Mathis, and goalkeeper Tabitha Floyd

The Petrels will close out the regular season Friday evening at Berry. They'll take on the Vikings in northwest Georgia at 5 p.m. After that, they'll head to their SAA first round matchup.
