  • Women's tennis plays regionally-ranked Rhodes tight but falls 5-4

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team played regionally-ranked Rhodes tight Sunday afternoon at the Dunavant Wellford Tennis Center on the campus of Memphis University School in Memphis, Tennessee. However, the homestanding Lynx asserted themselves in doubles play to give them a one-match edge that they wouldn't relinquish. With the loss, the Stormy Petrels fell to 8-6 overall and 1-5 in SAA play.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team got untracked in conference play Saturday in Conway, Arkansas, beating the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 8-1 to improve to 1-4 in SAA competition and 8-5 overall.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team outlasted the regionally-ranked Piedmont Lions Wednesday afternoon at the Howell Courts, beating them 5-4 in a marathon match featuring four 3-set singles matches and three doubles matches decided by two games or less. The Stormy Petrels came from a set down in three separate singles matches to win and improved to 7-3 on the season.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team had a tough matchup Sunday afternoon against a Millsaps team ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region. They hung tough but eventually fell 5-2 to the visiting Majors, with the match played to decision due to early wet-court delays. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 6-3 on the season overall and 0-2 in SAA play.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team closed its spring break trip Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 win over the Transylvania Pioneers in Altamonte Springs, Florida. With the win, the Stormy Petrels improved to 6-1 on the season. They won four of their five spring break matches.
  • Women's tennis splits Day 2 of spring break trip

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team earned a split of their second full day at spring break in central Florida. They defeated Immaculata 8-1 Tuesday night in Altamonte Springs, but fell 7-2 to former Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Austin early Tuesday afternoon in Casselberry. With the results, the Stormy Petrels moved to 5-1 on the season.
  • Women's tennis sweeps first day of spring break trip (updated)

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team got their spring break trip off to an outstanding start Monday as they beat the Belhaven Blazers 8-1 in Lakeland, Florida, in the morning before turning around and knocking off the St. Scholastica Saints 6-3 in Orlando Monday evening. With the win, the Stormy Petrels improved to 4-0 on the season.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team continued their hot start to the season Saturday at the Howell Courts, blanking their opponent for the second straight day. They defeated the Covenant Scots 9-0 to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team completed their stay at the ITA South Regional Championships on Saturday. The tournament was hosted by Emory with matches at their campus in Atlanta and at Agnes Scott's campus in Decatur.

    The Oglethorpe women's tennis team had a very successful 2018, finishing fourth in the SAA with a 12-7 record, and ranked 16th in the Atlantic South. The squad will surely miss 4-time All-SAA performer Caroline Johnson along with stellar doubles player Hallie Sickling. However, they have everyone else back and will be led by a solid senior class.
