The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finished 18th this weekend at the 2-day Emory Invitational in Atlanta. They scored 15 points as a team, getting several top eight finishes from their athletes on Saturday.
Sophomore Kayla Trice posted a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing her race in 12.32 seconds to finish second among Division III athletes. She joined junior Nicolette Andrey, who finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday. Junior Arielle Shaw finished sixth in the triple jump, posting a leap of 35 feet, 10 inches to put her second among Division III competitors.
"I was pleased with the performance the team gave this weekend at the Emory Invitational," said Oglethorpe head coach Kirk Shellhouse. "I look forward to seeing this team continue to develop as we move forward toward the conference meet at the end of the season."
The Petrels will be back at Emory next weekend for the Emory Classic. That event will once again be contested over two days, Friday and Saturday.
Day 1 Recap
The Oglethorpe women's track and field team got their stay at the Emory Invitational started on Friday, and junior Nicolette Andrey led the way for the team with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Andrey completed her run with a time of 1 minute, 8.43 seconds to give five points to the Stormy Petrels.
Elsewhere, sophomore Hava Stenn finished 16th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 13:13.6, while freshman My'Chel Robinson finished 18th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.78. Senior Rebecca Spry finished 22nd in the javelin throw with a toss of 24.49 meters.
The Petrels will return to the track at Woodruff PE Center on Saturday for Day 2 of the Emory Invitational, which will get underway at 8 a.m.
