  • Arielle Shaw earns eighth career track and field All-Region honor

    Senior Arielle Shaw of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team took NCAA Division III outdoor track and field All-South/Southeast Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Sunday night. It marked her fourth career outdoor USTFCCCA All-Region honor, and her eighth career All-Region accolade counting the four she's also earned for indoor track and field.

    The Oglethorpe track and field teams saw two participants move into position to potentially qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Falcon Finale in Montevallo, Alabama. Senior Arielle Shaw jumped a season-best 38 feet, 6.75 inches in the women's triple jump to move up into a tie for 16th nationally, while freshman Bryce McNealy won the men's 400 meters in 48.06 seconds and moved up to 14th nationally.
  • Stormy Petrels close out academic year with 2019 Petey Awards

    The Oglethorpe athletic department rounded out the season with the Seventh Annual Petey Awards on Sunday, hosted at the university's Conant Performing Arts Center. The event, which is produced by the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), allowed Oglethorpe student-athletes to honor the best and brightest performances of the year while reflecting on the 2018-19 athletic year as a whole.
  • Women's track and field athletes earn four All-SAA accolades

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team placed four athletes on All-SAA teams, released Monday by the league office. Senior Arielle Shaw nabbed All-SAA first-team honors, while fellow senior Nicolette Andrey took All-SAA second-team accolades. Junior Kayla Trice and freshman Sarah Ayoade took home All-SAA honorable mention.

    Senior Nicolette Andrey of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team earned the SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week award from the league's coaches Wednesday. It marked her second SAA weekly award of the season after she earned women's field honors March 13. It also served as the third conference honor by a Stormy Petrel women's track and field athlete this season after fellow senior Arielle Shaw took women's field honors on March 27.

    The Oglethorpe track and field teams closed out their stay at the Emory Classic on Saturday with an eventful day. The women got a first-place finish from senior Arielle Shaw on the day and scored points via their relay team, while freshman Bryce McNealy placed for the men.

    Senior Arielle Shaw and freshman Hayden Guthrie of the Oglethorpe track and field teams have earned weekly honors from the league's coaches for their efforts at the Emory Invitational Friday and Saturday. Shaw took home SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while Guthrie garnered SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It marked the first weekly award of Guthrie's career and the third of Shaw's.

Added to her three outdoor All-Region honors, the award gives her seven career All-Region honors total.
