Senior Nicolette Andrey of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team earned SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors from league's coaches Wednesday, marking the first such award of her career.
Andrey set a school record this past weekend at the Southern Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama. She finished fourth overall in the long jump with a record mark of 18 feet, 0.5 inches. The previous Oglethorpe record was set in 2006.
Additionally, Andrey currently sits second in the SAA, third in the South/Southeast region, and fourth among all NCAA Division III competitors on the season with that mark.
Andrey and the rest of her teammates will travel to Conway, South Carolina, Friday through Sunday for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. After that, they'll return to Atlanta for back-to-back weekends, when they'll compete in two separate Emory meets.
