Senior Nicolette Andrey of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team earned the SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week award from the league's coaches Wednesday. It marked her second SAA weekly award of the season after she earned women's field honors March 13. It also served as the third conference honor by a Stormy Petrel women's track and field athlete this season after fellow senior Arielle Shaw took women's field honors on March 27.
Andrey had a wonderful showing Friday in the 400-meter hurdles at the Emory Classic in Atlanta. She finished seventh overall and second among NCAA Division III athletes in the event. Additionally, she set a program record which was previously posted in 2003, completing her run in 1 minute, 5.55 seconds.
Andrey is currently second in the SAA, fourth in the South/Southeast region, and 20th among all NCAA Division III competitors in the 400-meter hurdles.
She and the rest of the Petrels return to action April 12 and 13 when they head up to Mount Berry for the two-day Berry Field Day Invitational.
